Innovation & Disruption. In this session Robert Pitt will provide some insights into new and emerging technologies & practices in the cemetery industry.
Robert commenced his career in the cemetery industry in 2001 at Centennial Park Cemetery Authority holding various roles, including Operations Manager and Deputy CEO, before leaving in 2008 to run his own business. In 2010 Robert was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority, a State Government-owned business.
Over the last six years, Robert has led the Authority through a period of cultural change and the enhancement of the four cemeteries; Enfield Memorial Park, Cheltenham Cemetery; the State Heritage-listed West Terrace Cemetery and Smithfield Memorial Park.
Totalling in excess of 80 hectares the Authority’s cemeteries are at different stages of development with each having different landscape aesthetics, interment products and services.
Robert is a past President of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Association of South Australia, is a former Board member of Service Skills South Australia. In addition Robert chairs the Retail Wholesale and Personal Services Training Advisory Group.
Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma in Horticulture and an MBA. His experience includes working in civil construction, the building industry, disability care services, hospitality, local government, event management and risk management.
